The Lazy Crab Tavern (we, us or our) respects your privacy. This policy explains how we handle personal information collected through this website, venue bookings, enquiries and our internal operations tools.
Information we collect
- Contact details you provide, such as your name, telephone number and email address.
- Booking and enquiry details, including date, time, party size, preferences and information you choose to include.
- Messages and feedback you send to us.
- Limited technical information used to operate, secure and improve the website, such as browser, device, cookie and server-log data.
How we use information
We use personal information to manage reservations, answer enquiries, provide venue services, plan staffing and service, protect our website and systems, meet legal obligations, and send marketing only where permitted or consented to.
Operational alerts and WhatsApp
We use the Meta WhatsApp Business Platform to send private operational reminders to authorised venue managers. These alerts may contain service summaries such as booking counts, large-party preparation, timing changes and verified sporting-event information. Guest telephone numbers and email addresses are not included in manager alerts. Message delivery status is processed so we can confirm whether an operational alert was sent, delivered, read or failed.
Service providers and disclosure
We may share only the information needed with providers that support our website, hosting, reservation system, email, security and WhatsApp Business messaging. These providers process information for the relevant service. We may also disclose information where required by law, to protect people or property, or as part of a business transfer.
Storage, security and retention
We take reasonable steps to protect personal information from loss, misuse and unauthorised access. Information is kept only for as long as needed for the purpose collected, legitimate business records, security, dispute resolution and legal requirements. Some service providers may process information outside Australia and apply their own security and privacy safeguards.
Cookies
Our website may use necessary, preference, analytics and security cookies. You can control cookies through your browser, although disabling necessary cookies may affect website functions.
Your choices and data deletion
You may ask to access, correct or delete personal information we hold, or raise a privacy concern. Use the contact form on this website and include “Privacy request” in your message. We may need to verify your identity and may retain information where the law or legitimate record-keeping requirements apply.
Australian privacy
We handle personal information under applicable Australian privacy law, including the Australian Privacy Principles where they apply.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when our services or legal obligations change. The latest version will appear on this page with its updated date.
